Spotlight On - Simon Dalby
Simon Dalby is an internationally recognised artist, currently residing in Toyko, Japan who has exhibited at London's prestigious Royal Academy and in solo exhibitions in Japan.
An avid golfer Simon grew up playing at Royal Liverpool. Now he is able to combine his love of art and golf with commissions for various golf clubs and their members around the world. He is a member of Royal Liverpool, the Royal & Ancient, and Worplesdon GC.
Simon has now made available his incredible oil painting of the new Royal Liverpool 15th, sometimes referred to as the 'Rushes' as a fine art print.
Commenting on this painting, Simon said: “Hoylake is my first love and I have witnessed many changes to the course over the years. A photo of the stunning new short 15th by Sam Cooper inspired me to create this dramatic painting”.
Simon calls the style of his painting 'magical realism'. What does that mean? He explains: "My paintings have the semblance of photographs and yet they are not. The colours are just that little bit too vibrant, the composition dreamlike in intensity. The magic comes from the interface between painting and viewer. I'm looking for you to suspend your disbelief - and become absorbed by the alternative reality on the canvas."
