    For golfers, Harry Rountree is best known for his watercolours in Bernard Darwin’s book, The Golf Courses of the British Isles. First published in 1910, Rountree's name was famoulsy incorrectly spelt on the cover! The book contains 64 plates or illustrations of which 49 are colour and 15 are monochrome.

    Born in New Zealand, 1878, by 1901, he had moved to London to pursue his career. From small commissions in journals and periodicals, he went on to illustrate Lewis Carrol’s Alice in Wonderland and count amongst his asociates Arthur Conan Doyle, PG Woodhouse and Bernard Darwin.
